SUMMARY:Green Mill Poetry Slam
DESCRIPTION:Surreal Pop Artist Tai Taeoalii brings his art to Chicago’s historical Green Mill Poetry Slam Green Mill (greenmilljazz.com)on April 21\, 2024\, 3-5:00 CT. In this collaboration with his aunt\, performance/video/original slam poet\, Jean C. Howard and legendary SlamPapi\, Marc Smith\, along with other fellow original Slam Poets of the Chicago Poetry Ensemble: Rob Van Tuyle\, Anna Brown\, Mike Barrett\, and Dave Cooper\, Tai’s work becomes a catalyst for each poet’s performance. \nThese poets\, pioneers of performance poetry\, were at the forefront of the Slam Poetry movement ignited in1986\, still running regularly at Chicago’s historical speakeasy\, The Green Mill\, as well as around the globe. From classrooms\, prisons\, biker bars\, to the White House\, Slam Poetry has transformed the meaning of poetry\, with Marc Smith leading the Slam to its current omni-media\, international level. \nThe Chicago Poetry Ensemble come together to perform face-to-face for the first time in decades and are joined by National Slam Contenders and current Green Mill headliners: Andy Karol\, Adrienne Nadeau\, and Emily Thornton Calvo. \nEvent Location: GREEN MILL JAZZ CLUB\n4802 N.
